The bagfull of chestnuts became 487g chestnut crumble/flour today. Boiled for 3 mins then drained, cut each one in half and scooped out the crumbly innards. This worked better over peeling them as the inner skin stayed in the shell, but does result in crumble rather than whole kernels. Brilliant! Very achey red hands now though. Any nuts with holes in it brown stuff inside were discarded. Two bags now in the freezer to await use at Christmas!
