The Sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see, are moving at a million miles a day, in an outer spiral arm and 40,000 miles an hour in a galaxy we call the Milkyway.*
Well worth a look.
So remember when you’re feeling very small and insecure, how amazingly unlikely is your biorth, and pray that there’s intelligent life somewhere up in space, ’cause there’s bugger all down here on Earth.
* It is a geeky triumph that I checked the numbers (for the whole song) and the only one I’d remembered wrong was thinking 40,000 was 60,000. And what’s 20,000 miles an hour in astronomy?!
