Wine, whine, wine…

I finally sorted out my crab apples picked from Grandma’s garden before it was sold a few weeks ago, to make Andy Hamilton’s crab apple wine. (I’ve also bought his Booze for Free book and Grow Your Food For Free, because apparently I don’t have enough booze making or gardening books). I rooted out my food processor as previous efforts to ‘crush’ crab apples (using a hammer and a bag) resulted in them pinging off dramatically across the kitchen. Plus with 2.2kg crab apples that’s a lot of hammer time. They are tough little beggars, even using the processor they stood their ground, causing the processor to rock alarmingly. I won in the end though, and now 2.2kg of mildly dismembered apples have sat in a plastic storage box overnight. They’re not supposed to be fermenting yet as they had a campden tablet in with them, but you tell them that. They smell smashing. All apple-y.

In other news, my brain isn’t working. Trying to write but can’t even remember the point of the piece I’m writing, which makes writing it rather challenging… Also the more I think about it the more tenuous it becomes…

And, I want one of these.
