3 meals from anarchy

So I got home today at the joyful time of 6.45, had a shower during which we had a power cut. I could tell, because my power shower became distinctly non-powerful. Our phone is electrical, the cooker is gas but I don’t fancy trying to light it with matches, the fridge, microwave and TV were all obviously out of use. My computer has a battery life of 5 minutes (this is not an exaggeration – the battery/power management is buggered). My mobile has a battery life of about 10 minutes due to the ancient battery in that also being buggered. So – being unable to cook I ordered a pizza. Whilst ordering it I started to pay for it with my card, got very suspicious when the blokie started asking for details you don’t need in order to make card payments, so I changed my mind and decided to pay with cash. I had about the right amount of cash, and no more. I then got a bit worried about my card and opted to cancel it with the bank. In doing so I spent half of my phone credit and used up most of it’s battery.

So, in 2 hours of a powercut I spent £4 worth of credit, £11 on a pizza, almost ran out of phone credit, almost ran out of phone battery, cancelled my card, left myself with no means of getting more money or more phone credit until my new card arrives and limited ways to pay by other cards as I never learned their pins. Oh and I don’t have a cheque book. Remove electricity from a girl, and her entire life falls apart.
