Back to the Mothership

My little lappy has gone back to the mothership 🙁 After several days of fruitless conversations with technical support and one day where I was on hold for over 15 mins listening to the Corrs “Only when I sleep” non-stop (evil, evil fiends), I got through today to someone with a brain! No, really! After I finished reading him my 2 page list of what had gone wrong, he told me I’d need to send it back.

So lappy is returning to the nest. Posted him today (cost £20 :plain:) and he’ll be there before 1pm0 tomorrow. Mr Man at tech support claimed a 5 day maximum turnaround as long as they have the spare parts in stock, so in theory he should be back by Thursday. I actually found it very distressing having to pass my lappy through the parcel hatch. Which again is subtle encouragement for me to find a life.

Quite excited though – if it comes back all lovely and working I’m planning to learn more about partitioning, play with some new OSs, and learn to backup 😀

Rabbit’s ill again. Can’t keep up with these animals. Boy cat is constantly on antibiotics for the infections he gets through fighting – I think he’s a bit of a junkie – this is his 4th lot this year. The neurotic one is on anti-depressants to stop her licking her fur off and on antibiotics to fight the infection she got from licking fur off, plus constant flea treatment as she’s allergic to fleas now. So she’s sitting on my sister’s bed talking to walls at the moment. George the guinea pig is still weak and fussy but plodding along. The rabbit now has a large lump under her chin and her 3rd eyelids are inflammed. Brain infection and gut stasis weren’t enough for one year. And my sisters mad guinea pig Marie is suspiciously snuffly. Considering I get a discount for being an ex-nurse and a current proto-vet, plus I tend to diagnose stuff myself, I don’t know how normal people get by. These animals have cost me hundreds since Summer started, and my mum’s been buying the food. *sigh* be nice if they’d stay healthy instead of developing some new rare illness that sends me traipsing back to the vets again. It’s embarassing! I was there on Monday with the two cats and now have to try and take rabbit in tomorrow! 🙁
