Fish Tank Analogy

Oh and I killed my fish! Poor little danio – we were commenting on Fri that he was looking a bit worse for wear and was not long for this world (we were looking at him because we’d noticed the other danio had gone). Then I had to clean the filter yesterday – I did so, put it back in but had changed the speed to maximum – not on purpose really, didn’t think about it. Everything got thrown around the aquarium – plants, cucumber (don’t ask) and yes, fish. I did turn it down of course but 2 hours later the danio was not only dead but someone had already eaten most of him.

Fish – don’t get them. They lead to guilt and philosophy. We have the Fish Tank Analogy we use frequently in non-fish related situations, developed in the early days of fish tank ownership. It’s a reminder that if you concentrate on the molly fish saying “oo look at her, she’s ill, she’s gonna die” then the silver shark will drop dead while you aren’t paying attention – i.e. a reminder not to focus on one thing (often animals) at the detriment of the rest as you ain’t psychic.
