Slow Ginny Weasley? Tenuous.

You want me to do what? Download Firefox 5? Firstly, what happened to Firefox 4? I’m  not a technophobe, yet I’m apparently on FF 3. Secondly – Download?!?! I want a button that says “Upgrade” and I want to click it. Beyond that and I lose interest in bothering. Thirdly, Windows wins on this one, because downloading an .exe and double clicking it to install – well, that works. As unnecessary I feel downloading itself is, it fundamentally works. However, in Linux (of which I am currently in), downloading isn’t really the done thing. One should update the program in question via the Ubuntu Software Centre, which ironically is rather hard to find since Ubuntu updated to 11. Which I don’t love btw – not handy to have all your close/minimise/maximise buttons to the left, a la Mac, PLUS when you move the left the equivalent of the windows taskbar pops up. No sorry – I was lunging to the left (aka direzione sinistra) to close the window, not to open the task bar – could you not tell that, Ubuntu? No? Great. FYI, apart from the stupidity of having two functions on the left and NO functions on the right, we called that sinister for a reason – we trust the right much more (apparently if you have an option when coming on stage,  if in a Latin-esk country you should come on from the left as left -> right = trustworthy. If in an Arabic-esk country, come on from the right; same reason).

Moving into the real world – I finally made sloe gin! I shall name it Slow Gin, since the berries what make it sluggish were picked in December 2010, on the Filtch Way by me and the Ding Sibling. Given it needs 18 months really to mature…. it won’t last past Christmas I assure you.

Also I saw Harry Potter 7.2 today and am now sad again for the loss of life of fictional characters. Plus I wish to see it in 3D, so I can again see the loss of life, but more realistically. Or something. Le Brummy Housemate mentioned that she had no interest in the men folk of the film. I realised I had a lot of interest… Of course Jason Isaacs and Alan Rickman, but lesser interests of Gary Oldman (Airforce One baddie ftw), plus newbies Rhys Ifans (Little Nicky and Notting Hill love) and old man love Bill Nighy. And new boy, Scabior. Brummy said I’m predictable, in that he had long hair and ridiculous outfit. I didn’t point out the makeup but did mention the villainous behaviour. For the record, note Scabior, not the actor. Veh specific. All they needed to do was add in Hugh Grant dancing and that’d be fab.

So yeah, gonna see it in 3D next. Perhaps twice.
