Last night in little flat! Amazing how many boxes needed for one little flat.

I packed the food, and now I’m hungry also – rubbish sellotape! Keeps peeling off.

I missed two photo days :/ although, I had double days previously so hopefully counts!

Thomas, surveying his new realm. Taken my dad today. Thomas has been kept in the garage since we moved in with minor forays into the house for a few minutes, and is now starting the transition back to the outdoors. The thing in the bottom right is his dog kennel so that he has somewhere to sleep if he gets stuck outside. No expense spared for Daddy’s boy! He’s the only cat that’s mostly outdoors – Chilli is in and out (mostly in) and settled easily into that within about a week and Spock, Alf and Pump when she visits are all indoor. Thom used to live mostly in the garage at old home to keep out of reach of Alfie but he can’t do that here as the garage has no way to provide a cat flap without punching a hole through breeze blocks (not an impossibility). We’ve been using the pheromone spray and diffuser which does seem to be working well for him – so well that it’s run out and we wonder if that’s what’s made him suddenly want to go outside. Apparently as long as there is grass and sunshine, Thomas is at home

In my defence I was dehydrated even before I bought the pizza. The free bottle of coke (which I didn’t even want) didn’t stand a chance.

Exciting day tomorrow! House finally free of tenants so I’ll be off to b&q to buy paint, then off to house to paint some walls before me and my new lodgers (who are friends this time) move in next week! Wee!

Fluffy came back today. Fluffy is what I’ve called a grey Persian that visited once when I’d just moved in, then again yesterday. I had a look at her yesterday – skinny, looks like she had kittens about 8 weeks ago or more, no collar, but fur not matted which in a Persian suggests regular grooming. Today mid dinner preparation I heard a meowing and thought it was Pumpkin (disgruntled thing pictured) and the realised it was Fluffy sitting under my kitchen window calling me. I went out to see her and she ran round into the flat. Hence the disgruntled-ness of Pumpkin. I evicted her and offered some biccies in case she was stray. She ate most and then wandered off with intent. I expect she’ll turn up again tomorrow – I may chueck the local vets to see if anyone’s lost her. Weird! Who lets a young purebred cat out, and unspayed too, but manages to groom it?

I got these two from JJ some time ago, I think for storing her bed for a while. Unnecessary but nice!

Tomato time! These guys have two weeks to ripen, otherwise they become green chutney, which though lovely may be a shame. The plants are over a metre tall and their support unorthodoxly comes from growing through the grid shelves you can see in the image, so moving them probably isn’t feasible. Some of these are huge though – I added water retention granules to their grow bag this year plus also fertiliser as as you’re supposed to, and I think it’s fed them well.

I move back to PB in two weeks – a little nerve racking as two weeks isn’t long, and the PB house is already pretty full :-/ I’m very much looking forward to giving it a coat of paint and some new carpets though, and getting a handle on the jungle of a garden; tenants really let it go. Shame it coincides with a busy time at work! C’est la vie though. A couple of friends of mine are moving in as well which should be interesting, as I’ve only ever lived with non-friends, and we’re not over-filling the house with people this time

Spock and Alfie approve of the new bed. So indeed does my back – two weeks of sleeping on memory foam mattress, a futon and a sofa bed did not agree with it.

I just realised I move house (again) in two weeks – and I’m busy the last weekend… that’s one weekend to move. One weekend! Egad…

EDIT – 3 1/2 hours later… lol, the 5 year old daughter of next door just came round. Alfie was the first cat she’d met close up; she met him last week so she wanted to see him again. Sadly for her, Alfie is Asleep. Alfie only has two modes – Awake and Asleep. If his is in one mode it is impossible to convert him to the other. On finding Alfie on my bed Asleep at 4.30pm despite his audience (Spock having ran and hid when the door sounded) small child first asked why the cats weren’t up by now and then went on to exclaim how that not even her Daddy had lie ins as long as this and he often missed breakfast! There was half-hearted attempts to explain that Alfie had already been up and had gone back to bed but I think the intricacies of cat behaviour escape the child at this point.
