Caloo Calay!

I didn’t tell you about Ding’s birthday, did I? It was the 20th, and we went to see Phantom of the Opera in London, after which we went out for a fantastic (but expensive) meal, thanks to Grandma. The theatre was amazing – we’ve all bee listening to the soundtrack of the movie version a lot since! The meal was pretty amazing also – me and Ding decided to rather carnivorously eat as many different types of meat in one meal; starter was Quail, and main was a venison steak, a rabbit tampale (like a fish cake almost), leg of pheasant and a wild boar sausage. Mostly-vege mother was probably a little disturbed. And yes, I’m watching Ray Mear’s Wild Food at the moment.

I have a week off, caloo, calay! So far I’ve not done much – eaten out with my colleague Sunday and Monday (plus a takeaway Friday – she’s a bad influence!). Should give my back a chance to heal – I’ve decided I’m not allowed to lift anything anymore. A few weeks ago I totally blew my back a few days before a full weekend on call (eek!) which was a fun prospect – I couldn’t move! I recovered, assumed I could lift half a German Shepherd and have now discovered I’m not allowed to lift anything anymore.

We gave Pumpkin acupuncture, on the basis that not much else had any effect. She’s been under the sofa twice, attacked Spock on one occasion and then played with the cat tree! All of these being first times! I’ve no idea if it has anything to do with the acupuncture – we’ve a few more weeks of treatment to go.

Top Gear trounced Big Brother in the ratings mwahahaha!

I’m gonna go make some cookies…

On call

I hate being on call. I spend all night on edge, waiting for the loathsome polyphonic Nokia tune to start. You should see the looks of terror when the Nokia tune is heard by any of us even when we aren’t on call.

Plus it’s cold. Meh.

Outcast Genius
69 % Nerd, 82% Geek, 78% Dork

For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in all three, earning you the title of: Outcast Genius.

Outcast geniuses usually are bright enough to understand what society wants of them, and they just don’t care! They are highly intelligent and passionate about the things they know are *truly* important in the world. Typically, this does not include sports, cars or make-up, but it can on occassion (and if it does then they know more than all of their friends combined in that subject).

Outcast geniuses can be very lonely, due to their being outcast from most normal groups and too smart for the room among many other types of dorks and geeks, but they can also be the types to eventually rule the world, ala Bill Gates, the prototypical Outcast Genius.

Congratulations!

Nerd, Geek or Dork?

…and potatoes have eyes.

I am being most remiss about my old blogging habit. Probably something to do with playing Zoo Tycoon 2 all hours of the day. Also something to do with not a lot going on in my life bar work, work and more work. Oh for a 9-5 job (that also pays fairly well…)

New Year Greens

Long time no post. Christmas was fun, I won’t bore you with the interminable details. New Year was quiet – no huge family partay this year, instead a quiet meal. Ding was not in attendance and to make up for it wrapped me seven presents, one to open each hour in the run up to midnight! So I couldn’t ignore her lol.

Going back to work however is most definately not fun. Mother dearest assures me it’s the January blues, but with several other members of staff leaving in the next few months, warnings of a increase in on call duties, plus some horrendously rude clients, I’m starting to feel a little fed up. There’s a distinct feeling that clients are valued over staff, and while of course good clients should be valued, bad clients who bully and abuse (and in one case sexually harass) should not be tolerated. And yet they are. And so staff become demoralised and some leave, and the remaining staff become yet more demoralised and start looking for escape routes.

Luckily I have my new computer games (Black & White 2, Zoo Tycoon 2 plus all extensions, and Pippa Funnell 2) to give me the greens instead.

I gat the greeeeeens in the mornin’, the greens at night! I gat the greens all day and I’m feelin’ alright! I gat the greeeeeeens…
