Pseudo! Tomorrow is our first Christmas Day – Ding and Dong are at Dong’s for the real day.
First time I’ve sat down in 6-7 hours. Turkey is jointed, stuffed, covered in butter and bacon and sitting on a bed of veg. Potatoes, parsnips, and carrots ready to roast, brussels blanched, stuffing balls rolled, sausages saged, sausagemeat… in a tray. Stock made from the wings and gibblets. Nut roast made and baked. Pudding made and steamed, and some cranberry mincemeat made for a later date since I had a few spare minutes.
The brussels (and the cabbage for tomorrow’s breakfast bubble-and-squeak) were from our allotment. The brussel really didn’t want to become lunch! We had to uproot it and almost lost! Odd that one of the issues with brussel plants is a risk of them blowing over – with the root system and stalk strength this one had, don’t think that was ever an issue… Here is the brave plant mid-de-sprouting.
