Alllllll gone. 😥 My lappy has been crashing and restarting itself for no reason the last few days and needing the recovery disk to boot up. Today it decided that instead of rebooting itself with said disk it’d reformat itself.
I’ve lost everything. 🙁 I can live without most of it – the photos I have of my rats that have passed away being the worst bit, but I’ve lost all my replies for the rat study I was doing for college. I’ll have to start again. And all my business emails.

You *should* still be able to get it all back. Most of it, any how. Even after a reformat. I have done so. There are tools available. Though my windoze time was long ago, and I don’t recall what they were called. It will come back to me, though…
*nods eagerly* I’ve just been googling and have found a couple of such programs which has put my mind at partial rest. Now all I have to do is work out what "other volume" I’m gonna restore the files to since I only have a cd drive (which the program will probably have to run off) and a 128mb usb stick (not much will fit on that). And also whether to complete the WinXP installation on the lappy before trying it (it’s paused halfway through reformatting until tech support reopens tomorrow morning) – installing windows will make life more easier but might wipe bits in the process.
Man, I need to start learning how to use these machines *properly*.
