Grandma

After a long and active life, my Grandma passed away recently about a month after her 90th birthday party. She’s an inspiration in that I think she got more or less what she wanted in life – a long life full of holidays and events, a close family, lots of friends, and hope for the future with great-grandchildren on the way. She was lucky enough to suffer no pain, and passed away surrounded by the entire family. The funeral focused completely on celebrating her life, and was well attended despite the snow and ice.

We will miss you Grandma, but I find I can’t be too sad; after a long and good life you got to say goodbye to everyone and pass away peacefully with your family nearby. I don’t think anyone would have asked for anything else, other than perhaps a little more time. But then there is never enough time. At least in this case I don’t think there are many regrets. If any of the rest of us achieve half of what you achieved, we’ll be doing well.

I really wanted to write this on your flowers but had to go for something more suitable 😉 but at least I get to write this here now:

Good on you Grandma, well done, and rock on!
