Around half of all fish caught are through back dead. As I can’t even apparently cope with the idea of windfall medlars going to waste, and the two apple trees that drop their fruit into the road that I pass every day makes me feel discordant, this just horrifies me.
There is rioting in London. Third night now. I don’t know what to think of it apart from that it’s abhorrent, and I don’t think it’s justified. But I do find it easier to focus on things I can do something about – a courgette glut for example, or my choice of fish. They are destroying things. Destroying homes and businesses and throwing fireworks at police horses and attacking policemen. I’m not some pansy lover of authority (eh, alright, I am) but that’s wrong. It should be “Look, I made a hat…Where there never was a hat” not “Behold… no hat.”
