Surprises galore!

It was my 30th this week and Ding arranged a surprise trip out for me! I knew she’d planned something but not what, or where. I got a wee hint when she gave me instructions to bring my oyster card but otherwise nada. When we got into London there was AnM – surprise #1! We then had Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea at the Sanderson Hotel, which is an odd hotel – the outside looks like a 1980s office block, but the inside is surreal. The food was lovely, with a little “Eat Me” cake and “Drink Me” bottle. So that was lovely!

Surprise #3 was cocktails at Purl, a sort of 1900s style basement bar, where the cocktails are imaginative – the one shown is a Hyde, served in a pitcher of liquid Nitrogen! I had a nice rum one to start, then a lovely Lagavulin inspired one, then an Absinthe one.

Surprise #4 was from Mum and Dad, dinner at Ping Pong, a Chinese dim sum chain. Food and tea was fantastic, and then did a limoncello cocktail. The last and only time I had limoncello was in Italy on the classics and Latin trip when I was 14 or something. Much nom!

Surprise #5 was than Anm had booked us a room at the 27 Paddington hotel, where we played the logo game until late (rebels!)

Surprise #6 was from Mum and Dad and was tickets to an arty crafts exhibition at Spittlefields market, which was great for inspiration. We finished the fun with lunch at Fire and Stone, a imaginative pizza restaurant.

It was a really lovely 2 days! I is a very lucky Kai 😀
